But it sounds as if he is doing the right thing for himself and his family, for now. I was neutral during the new Republican primary with two good people running, but now will enthusiastically support Richard Tisei to beat John Tierney. This is the most important election in my lifetime, and in 2013 we will need every friendly Congressman we can get. Bill would have been a terrific Congressman and I’m still surprised that the 6th CD didn’t elect him when they had the chance. But it sounds as if he is doing the right thing for himself and his family, for now.

I remember the Wheels for Welfare program: the concept was to get welfare recipients who didn't have access to public transportation to work. Bad idea, but not a bad motivation. Important to remember that "conservative" to some of us means fiscal conservative, not social conservative. And then, the Big Question: who can beat Obama? Mainstream voters, especially Independents and young people, aren't likely to vote for an actively social conservative. So do you want to save America from Obama, or not?
